In recognition of its initiatives and contributions towards the society
Beirut-Lebanon: Alfa, managed by Orascom Telecom, received the Pan Arab "Gold Award for Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)" for 2012, from the "Arab Organization for Social Responsibility".
The award was granted to Alfa as a token of recognition of the contributions made by the company towards the Lebanese society especially through its Corporate Social Responsibility program"Alfa-4Life" in support of social welfare and especially initiatives targeting children with special needs which have created a real change in the lives of the children and helped in achieving theirsocial integration.
Alfa has received the award during a ceremony recently held by the Organization in Dubai in honor of the institutions and personalities active in the field of social responsibility in the Arab region.
Alfa emphasized that this award is "a source of pride for it as a company working in the field of technology and telecommunications, which confirms that the role played by companies towards society is essential for their success and excellence nowadays."
Alfa confirmed that this award is an incentive for it as a corporation to continue in adopting more CSR initiatives, especially that its CSR commitment is of long term, and aims to contribute in creating a virtuous cycle of change in society, and further raise awareness of social issues.
It is worth noting that the Alfa was one of the first companies to assume a role in the area of social responsibility through its CSR program "Alfa-4Life" in Lebanon and the region. The companyhas been, for the past six years, and through "Alfa 4-Life," supporting a number of associations that take care of children in communication needs, and working with specialists to create effective initiatives which are a sort of treatment for children through art. These initiatives aimedat developing the children's communicative skills, contributing to the full achievement of their citizenship and their complete social integration.
This year the company launched a number of leading CSR initiatives. Among these initiatives, there is "Colorful Autism World," the second painting exhibition for Ali Tlais, from the Lebanese Autism Society (LAS), where Ali's paintings were sold and part of the proceeds went to support the activities of the LAS. Ali's talent has been praised locally and internationally, gaining wide acknowledgment as more than 4,000 visitors visited his exhibition in four days, and as well his paintings have been displayed at international exhibitions & forums for the second year in a row.
In addition, Alfa launched this year "Cleanliness is Our Citizenship," a cleaning sea shore initiative which was led by the mentally-challenged children of Acsauvel. This, in addition, to the "Seeing Through The Hands" Exhibition by the students of the Lebanese School for the Blind & the Deaf, who expressed their vision for life through sculptures which showed their exceptional artistic creativity.
