Young Lebanese voices for a better tomorrow

    18 january 2016

55% of young Lebanese think Lebanon will be worse in 2030 than it is right now. This sharply contrast the optimism of young people all over the world, including in other MENA countries, where over half of young people feel their countries would be better off in 2030. These statements are based on the preliminary report of the YouthSpeak Survey for Lebanon, released today by AIESEC in Lebanon.

The YouthSpeak Survey is a global insight survey created by youth for youth. It was launched on October 9th 2015, aiming to capture opinions of 100,000 young people worldwide and answer the question how to engage millennials to take action. In the first weeks, over 500 young Lebanese have filled in the survey. The preliminary report for Lebanon captures the opinions, dreams and hopes. In the report you can find for example how satisfied young Lebanese are with their university or college experience, or what main motives drive them in life. The report shows how millennials mostly use Facebook to gather information, and family opinions matter greatly to them in decisions they make. Not all of the results are new, but are now for the first time backed by real data.

But that data, collecting the voices of youth, needs to become even stronger. Virgin Radio, Educom Overseas and the UN are already helping spread the word in Lebanon. AIESEC wants to collect every young person's voice, because everyone deserves to be heard. Partners in media, business, government, university and policy making, from young entrepreneurs to the UN, are all listening to us. Let your voice be heard too, fill in the survey now via youthspeak.aiesec.org.

About the preliminary report: You can find the preliminary report of the YouthSpeak Survey in Lebanon here. This report captures the first 350 voices of young Lebanese. You can find the global preliminary report, capturing almost 40,000 young people's voices all over the world here. The YouthSpeak survey will run until March, 2016.
