Samsung Galaxy Note 6 release date, price and features

    16 february 2016
Ahead of an official announcement, we've rounded up everything we know so far about the Galaxy Note 6 into this article, and will update it as more details come through.Release dateAn August 2016 release is on the cards, according to TechRadar's report. That would certainly keep an annual schedule for Samsung phablets, as the Galaxy S6 Edge+ launched in August 2015, although the Galaxy Note 4 hit the shelves in October 2014 rather than during the summer.
Galaxy Note enthusiasts can apparently thank themselves for the new phablet arriving in the UK. Fans of the phablet series, it seems, didn't take too kindly to the Galaxy S6 Edge+ muscling out the Galaxy Note 5 entirely, and the resulting backlash was strong enough to make Samsung reconsider its plans for 2016.As for when Samsung will formally announce the device, there's a remote chance that it could be unveiled alongside the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge at the Samsung Unpacked event on 21 February, one day before Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. However, knowing Samsung's tendency to announce a major handset just weeks or even days before it goes on sale, we'd expect the Galaxy Note 6 unveiling to take place much closer to its alleged release window in August.PriceThe Galaxy Note 6's price is a bit of a mystery. The lack of curvy Edge screens will help keep costs down, although if there's any truth in rumours that the device is larger than previous Galaxy Notes, that will naturally push them back up.For comparison, the Galaxy Note 5 launched at $700 (about £480) while the Galaxy S6 Edge+ was a rather more lavish £750. It's most likely that the Galaxy Note 6 will land somewhere in between, probably between £600 and £700 depending on internal storage.Specs and featuresThe Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge have been the subjects of numerous credible leaks, but for the time being we know much less about the Galaxy Note 6.That said, expect it to bring back staples such as the S Pen stylus, the Galaxy S6 Edge+'s lack of which is said to have been a big factor in the consumer backlash, as well as Samsung's favoured Super AMOLED display tech. A microSD card slot is also heavily rumoured for inclusion, similar to the two upcoming Galaxy S7 handsets.
On the software side, Android 6.0 Marshmallow seems like a safe bet, as is Samsung's TouchWiz custom skin. This latest version of Android is currently rolling out to the Galaxy S6 family, so Samsung should be able to get it on the Galaxy Note 6 out of the box.
