Facebook announced Account Kit, a new way for app developers to let users sign up for services with an email or phone number, no username or password required.
"People hate passwords," Facebook product manager Eddie O'Neil told VentureBeat in an email. That means this technology could be more compelling to end users than the traditional Facebook Login system, which demands that people type in their email address and password.
Now, how does it work, a move seen to expand the "log in with Facebook" button. Apps that allow logins with Accounts ask you for your phone number. Once you provide your digits, Facebook sends you a code to confirm the number belongs to you.
