    29 january 2013

Zaitunay Bay played host to a unique event on Thursday the 24th of January, as the charitable organization, Antami, undertook the challenge of breaking the Guinness record for the largest glow in the dark painting in the world. The aim was to inspire people to participate in social and community work and provide an assortment of artistic activities on the upper promenade of Zaitunay Bay.

The painting, which measured 120m2 in size, was the illustration of a Sufi poem in graffiti form through the of Calligraffiti. Local artists created the 40 pieces that made up the painting, which will be auctioned off separately at a later date to raise money for families in need.

The entertainment for the day, which took place at the cabanas on the upper promenade, satisfied adults and children alike. These included arts and crafts activities such as pearl necklace making and calligraphy tutoring. More children-oriented activities were offered in the story-telling and science project houses, as well as the fun-for-everyone candy store sponsored by Toumourana, along with the cupcake sale and decoration sponsored by Sugar Daddy.

"Thanks to the efforts of all the people involved at this Zaitunay Bay event, we were finally given a platform that allowed us to show that a great idea can bring people together, conveying the beliefs of Antami," explained Nada Merhebi Itani. After records were broken, people left with a greater sense of community and fulfillment making the Antami event a great success.
