The Lebanese Center for Special Education (CLES)invited their friends to attend "Noces de Vent" a play by "La Compagnie du Coeur" in Waterloo, Belgium, followed by a Lebanese cocktail reception prepared by the famous caterer "Al Barmaki" in Brussels and with the presence of CLES ambassador, French movie Star Nathalie Baye.
This evening aims to support additional free individualized assistance to children with specific learning disabilities between the ages of 3 and 12. Early diagnosis and professional assistance will help these children with normal intelligence to function effectively and stay in school.
Myrna Dahdah started by welcoming the guests and introducing the CLES, then invited to the stage, both the Founder and President of CLES, Carmen Chahine Debbane and Actress Nathalie Bayewho had a duo conversation about their involvement in CLES and their direct and indirect experience with learning disabilities followed by the play, which ended with a great success.
"There are many opportunities to explore for children with learning disabilities that we call DYS", explains Carmen Chahine Debbane. She also re-announced CLES's new partnership with the National Dance Institute of New York, which will integrate dance into public schools and help children build self-confidence on a whole new level. "Dance and music will help with body expression so that the child has confidence in himself where he had none elsewhere" commented Debbane. She would like to give hope to the new generation by creating a DYS scholarship. "It is aimed at children with learning Disabilities such as Dyslexia, Dysphasia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia, Dyspraxia, ADHD etc... who have not received good grades. We will accompany them so that they can join a technical or vocational school, until their professional insertion, to avoid that they fall into delinquency or drugs".
The continuous presence of Nathalie Baye, being dyslexic herself, has had a great impact on CLES whether in Beirut back in October or in Belgium this month. She always speaks of her encounter with Carmen Chahine Debbane during a film festival and how the two became friends due to her high interest in the actions of CLES.
"La Compagnie du Coeur", founded in 1996 is an amateur theater group, made up of cardiologists, surgeons and their acolytes who integrated the Walloon and Brussels theaters at the rate of a tour every two years for more than 20 years now. All the benefits of their performances are paid to various associations.From year to year, this show is a success every time it is renewed.
