In harmony with its essential role in supporting documentary film production in the Arab World, and in an initiative that reflects both institutions' common interest in documentary films and filmmakers and the forms of their support and promotion, Screen Institute Beirut (SIB)is offering its support for the 7th edition of Ayam Beirut Al Cinema'iya.
Through its Film Fund created in 2009, Screen Institute Beirut has had a major impact in the changes that the Arab documentary landscape witnessed during the past three years. A number of these films will be screened in this year's Ayam Beirut Al Cinema'iya which has established itself as one of the most important platforms for Arab films in the region.
Screen Institute Beirut's support to Ayam Beirut Al Cinema'iya will be reflected in the Festival's main and parallel activities. In addition to screening documentaries supported by SIB in the Festival's official program, SIB is sponsoring the organization of a panel entitled "Family Portraits in Arab Documentary" tackling the emergence of this genre of documentaries in the Arab World over the past few years, among which many were supported by SIB's Film Fund.
And last but not least, SIB will offer a prize of $ 5000to support the theatrical distribution of an Arab documentary from the festival's official selection. The prize will be awarded either to the producer or distributor (If available), upon the presentation of a concrete and convincing distribution plan.
SIB will also be present in the networking session organized in the frame of "DOCmed", the training program for Arab producers organized by Beirut DC in parallel to the Festival.
