Ahliah School Sings Rose Ghorayeb Ahliah Choir celebrates the launching of its Cover Album Encouraging the new generation to keep learning the Arabic Language

    02 november 2017

On the occasion of the 100th year anniversary of its founding, Ahliah School celebrates its centennial with a Choir performance that will be presented by students from Lower School with songs written by Rose Ghorayeb. The event will take place on the 3rd and the 4th of November 2017 at 5pm, at the premises of Ahliah School.

The Choir Event, that Ahliah School along with members from the Board of Trustees organized, will join together the works of the writer and educator Rose Ghorayeb who taught the Arabic language at the school. Her aimwas reinforcing the native language of thenext generations specifically through writinga children's book.

As part of its centennial celebrations, and through its campaign for supporting the Arabic Language, Ahliah Choir has recorded the songs of Rose Ghorayeb on a Cover Album, which also includes a booklet that contains the lyrics in order to promote it amongst schools and parents, especially that the songs are made and suitable for the children of a younger age. Ever since the launching of her songs, there has not been any comparable work for children that is rich and amusing, and that expressestheir childhood experiences andguides their interaction with the surrounding people and nature. Those songs have truly become very popular and constantly sung by the children and students of Ahliah, including the song "The chanting of the Breeze (Onshoodat Al Nasamat)" and "Oh Moon (Ya Kamar)".

The Ahliah School vision has always considered music and singing as two influential means to enhance the children's identification with their mother tongue, in addition to self-discipline and refining their artistic and cultural taste. In the past, the school had been a pioneer in forming one of the first Choirs that have travelled around numerous capitals around the world in the thirties and forties of the 20th century. At the time, the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts was founded by Alexis Boutros who was an Ahliah student and Wadad Makdessi Cortas, the school's Principal then.

In the hope for a successful event in spreading the songs among the children, at home as well as at school, and most importantly, benefit from it and enjoy it.
