MINUS 1 and B A N Z Y gallery hosted the launching event of the second Solo art exhibition of SIMON MHANNA titled, "AN INNER SCREAM" which took place on November 30 at 7pm.
The paintings exemplify a world of inhibition and intensity, warmth and diligence. The artist's main inspiration stems from his interest in the underlying conflict between outward facial expressions and inner spirit. It is a scream that transcends the figure, the spirit, and emotion.
Walking around the exhibition, Mhanna's work speaks to the very spirit of humanity through the atmospheric portrayal of inner screams across anarray of thoughtfully constructed yet instinctively altered human faces.
As he welcomed attendees, artist and painter, Simon Mhanna commented, "Take a deeper look at the portraits populating my collections is all it takes to feel the spirit of the paintbrush alive and dreaming, or maybe just painting dreams conveyed through the faces of its observers, a multi-faceted reality. Hoping that through this art space and through your support that this silent scream resonates the loudest within my world and into the world."
MINUS 1 is a well-rounded and alternative art space whose activities include supporting upcoming artists by giving them a chance to exhibit their work and introducing them to the art scene in Lebanon.
Nisrine Faddoul, Owner at MINUS 1 said, "By having Simon Mhanna exhibit his work at our space, we will be adding to our series of renowned artists who have worked with us before.We are not a traditional art exhibition but rather an alternative art hub that aims at making art affordable, supporting emerging and established artists and conducts all projects related to art and culture."
The exhibition will continue running from December 1 to December 6 from 3:30PM to 7:30PM at Minus 1 in Tabaris.
