Shot in antiquated splendour, the Hummingbird Ivory and Military Brocade Ivory rugs are an elegant addition to The Rug Company's Alexander McQueen collection. As some of our most ambitious projects to date, both rugs feature Alexander McQueen's unbridled creativity, fused with The Rug Company's commitment to craftsmanship.
McQueen's Hummingbird design is brought to life using silk and pashmina threads, with soft metallic accents to give each bird a magical iridescence that only adds to the refined drama of this ethereal masterpiece. Only by using the traditional aubusson tapestry techniques is it possible to achieve the almost photographic depiction of hummingbirds in flight. The exquisite Hummingbird design is also now available as wallhangings in both colourways (1.83m x 1.22m and 1.52 x 0.92m), as resplendent hung on the wall as on the floor.
Based on the embroidery on a coat from McQueen's infamous Autumn 2001 What a Merry-Go-Round show, the Military Brocade Ivory rug features the designer's distinctive skull and dragon motifs. Reproduced in ivory hand-knotted wool, with a raised pattern hand-carved in gold silk, the rug is an opulent nod to McQueen's thrilling style and exquisite creations.
