    Renault Road Safety Initiative

    26 march 2013

The exceedingly high number of car accidents in Lebanon makes road safety programs essential for everyone, particularly the youth who are the country's future drivers. Renault, in collaboration with YASA, has taken the lead in educating students in eight different schools across the country through a Road Safety awareness program, coupled with an interscholastic initiation designed to educate and inform the youth of basic road and first aid rules.

With the collaboration and active participation of the Civil Defense, the fire brigade of Beirut and the Lebanese Red Cross, speakers will discuss this subject that is of great importance, emphasizing appropriate behavior to be adopted on the road and how to avoid unnecessary risks. The representatives will educate the students of College des Peres Antonins, Saint Coeur Hadath, Sagesse High School, College Antoura, Carmel St. Joseph, Notre Dame Louaize, Saint Coeurs Sioufi and College Protestant.

Lectures are not the only item on the menu, as involving and interacting with the children is the best way to ensure that these lessons are deeply instilled in them. A circuit that allows the students to learn and practice the rules of the road in small electric cars will be installed in each school. Equally as important, a series of first aid and rescue instructions will be demonstrated in order to fully equip the students should they ever face an emergency situation.

Students will be able to provide their own contribution to road safety awareness through an interactive competition where they will be asked to create an artistic poster that falls under this theme. The A3 or larger-sized poster must depict an image accompanied by a piece of text, and submissions will be posted on Renault Lebanon's Facebook page for fan votes. These votes as well as a jury of YASA members will select the three finalists, who will be awarded with an iPad, an iPad Mini and an iPod touch respectively.

Tackling such an important issue and taking the appropriate steps to work towards a solution is an initiative of great magnitude. With Renault taking on the national concern of traffic safety and making sure that the drivers of tomorrow take part, the roads are already a safer place to be.
