Careem, the region's leading ride-hailing app and only tech unicorn in the Middle East, today announced the rollout of their Careem Kids car type in Lebanon. Already live in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, Careem Kids offers parents a car that comes equipped with a child car seat for extra safety.
Since launching operations in 2012, Careem has expanded to close to 100 cities across 13 countries in the wider Middle East.
Customers in Lebanon can now choose to book the Careem Kids car type which carries a starting fare of $7 and a minimum trip fare of $10. Seats provided are Quax brand and are suitable for children aged between one and four years. Currently the service is available for scheduled bookings only.
The only operator to offer child car seats, Careem is leading the way with road safety standards across the region. Safety and security are top priorities for Careem, with over $2million invested this year alone in protective measures for customers and Captains. Before they can drive for the platform, potential Captains undergo a comprehensive series of checks and tests to ensure they meet the company's strict requirements. Captains must be presentable; hold a driver's license; have a national ID number; submit a criminal record certificate and undergo a drug test. Every three months, Careem conducts car check-ups and renews all documentation provided by Captains to ensure they continue to meet the company's standards.
"We are proud to be offering our Careem Kids product to families living and visiting Lebanon. Already a great success in the UAE, the service is unique to the region and one that is often a core reason for choosing Careem. We are the only ride-hailing operator in the region to offer a child car seat and we will continue to push the public narrative forward on the importance of buckling up in-ride, for all passengers" commented Ibrahim Manna, Managing Director of Careem across Emerging Markets on the introduction of the new service.
