    27 march 2013

Majid Al Futtaim Properties, the leading developer, owner and operator of shopping malls and complementary mixed-use projects in the MENA region, announced today that its eagerly-awaited Beirut City Centre will open its doors to the Lebanese community on April 4th.  Beirut City Centre is Majid Al Futtaim's first mall to open in the Levant region. The flagship mall will feature over 200 specialty stores including 40 new brands opening in Lebanon for the first time, creating a dominant retail and entertainment destination for Beirut. This will include the country's first Carrefour hypermarket, the first Multi-screen VOX Cinemas, which offer the latest in cinematic innovations, with VOX MAX and VOX GOLD Cinema options; and the first Magic Planet family entertainment centre.

Mr. Waddah Al Solh, Country Head of Majid Al Futtaim Properties in the Levant region, said:  "Beirut City Centre demonstrates Majid Al Futtaim's commitment to investing in the long-term future of Lebanon. Not only will the $350 million shopping mall enrich the local retail offering with dozens of new international brands, it will also have a strong impact on the local economy. In addition to more than 2,500 jobs generated during the construction phase, Beirut City Centre will provide more than 1,200 permanent job opportunities, once opened."

Beirut City Centre will also bring the first Marks & Spencer store to the Lebanese market, along with the largest and brand new H&M and the newest Centrepoint, among many more brands. Beirut City Centre will include over 40 international restaurants and cafés, including a food court with 16 diners and an open-air rooftop terrace with 12 destination restaurants.

Mr. Waddah continued, "We are committed to bringing a truly unique shopping and lifestyle destination to the Beirut community. This will not simply be a shopping destination, it will be a place for families and friends to gather and spend time together, enjoy all the leisure options the Centre has to offer."

To mark the occasion, the new 60,000 square metre mall will host a 10-day extravaganza of entertainment to welcome visitors, including a host of international musical performers and dancers, and topped off with an amazing vertical fashion show.

As visitors explore new stores, the mall's customers could also be in for an even bigger bonus. Beirut City Centre's fashion promotion kicks off April 11 to May 11 and shoppers will have 3 chances weekly to win $6000.
