As part of its constant pursuit to regularly encourage the public to take the necessary health precautions, LAU Medical Center-Rizk Hospital invited patients, residents, media and the public to get free screening for skin cancer by Dr. Zeina Tannous, Chair of Dermatology Department at the hospital under the theme: "Sun is Hot, Skin Cancer is Not".



The Dermatology Department at LAU Medical Center-Rizk Hospital aimed at delivering the message through videos, activities and fun games, whereby the following tips were highlighted to prevent skin cancer: applying sunscreen repeatedly throughout the day, wearing protective clothing such as hats and sunglasses, remain constantly hydrated, and finally avoid being directly under the sun from 10 am till 2 pm, that is when the sun is most harmful. 



"Melanoma is one of the most common types of skin cancer with a rapid increase in the number of patients getting this disease. For that reason, it is very important to raise awareness of how to protect ourselves from all the daily factors we are exposed to" said Dr. Tannous. She added that it is not recommended to disregard any unusual sign or mark revealed by our bodies, as any early detection of the disease increases the chance of cure.
