August 1 2018 marks the 73rd anniversary of the Lebanese army, and this occasion was celebrated early morning at the Fayadieh barracks with the attendance of the president and prime minister designate. Army commander General Joseph Aoun led the ceremony while President Michel Aoun distributed swords to the graduating class of the military academy. As a token of remembrance for last year’s army bravery as they defended the northeastern border from terrorists, the class of 2018 will be dubbed the “dawn of the outskirts”.
