As part of Hilton Global Week of Service, the Blue Energy Committee at Hilton Beirut Habtoor Grand and Hilton Beirut Metropolitan Palace paid a surprise visit to SOS Children's Villages Lebanon in Bhersaf last week. Over 10 employees coming from different departments spent a morning with the orphaned and abandoned children who endured difficult life challenges at a very vulnerable age. The children from 7 houses along with their caregivers were thrilled to dance, play and gather over a delicious breakfast prepared specially for them by Hilton team.
The family-based model at SOS Children's Village aims at providing children with a safe and secure setting in which they can grow up surrounded with love. Aligned with their care for the community, the Blue Energy Committee at Hilton Hotels were keen to draw a smile on the faces of the children and show them the love and attention they need to grow up in a happy community."Such initiatives work in harmony with our bigger umbrella of sustainable travel and tourism under "Travel with Purpose" program," said Naif Zureikat, Cluster General Manager at Hilton Hotels. "We are committed to giving back to the community hoping we can contribute in making a positive difference in the people's lives. The Blue Energy team which is comprised of skillful, focused and engaged members, enjoyed their visit to SOS Children's Village as they were impressed with the quality family care provided to these vulnerable kids," added Zureikat.
The CSR initiatives at Hilton Hotels spread throughout the whole year and across different spectrums. Earlier this year, Hilton Hotels organized Christmas & Easter activities with children and elderly, participated in reforestation of cedars in Deir El Ahmar, and honored the Lebanese Military Organization and the wounded troops to name few.
SOS Children's Villages Lebanon, a non-profit social development national association and a member of the International Federation of SOS Children's Villages, is part of the world's largest practitioner movement for supporting children's rights deprived of parental care or at risk of losing it by providing them with Family Based Care (FBC) and preventing child abandonment through the Family Strengthening Program (FSP). These 2 programs complement each other to take care of vulnerable less fortunate children.Hilton worldwide Global Week of Service's aims to deliver a series of projects around the globe to positively impact the communities where we live, work and travel. Last year alone, team members across 93 countries completed 4,166 community projects, resulting in 291,620 volunteering hours.
