Coolest Food Trends We’ve Seen in 2017

    07 november 2017

As more and more consumers become health conscious and picky as to what ingredients and methods are used in the production of the food they consume, we've seen many new food trends take shape this past year. From vibrant smoothie bowls to raw matcha desserts these are the coolest food trends of 2017.

    All Raw Everything

We've witnessed an extensive rise in raw ingredient-based desserts. Creative cooks are experimenting with date and nut bases, matcha, all natural nut butters, raw cocoa nibs and almond milk cheesecakes, to make everything from guiltless Snickers bars to sweet potato brownies.

    Avocad-Obsession

Guacamole is so yesterday thanks to avocado's new unconventional uses. Consumers are making art out of avocado toast by topping them with poached eggs, tomatoes, and even nuts and seeds. That's not all; we've also seen buddha bowls, smoothie bowls, and desserts made from this magical fruit.

    Meet the Non-Meat Meat

With personal health and ethics becoming stronger topics of interest, it seems everyone is turning vegan these days. However, ditching the loaded burger for a bland plate of steamed vegetables isn't really what they're after. Instead, they're opting for quinoa patties, tofu burgers, cauliflower BBQ wings, and just about anything that doesn't sacrifice the original taste of the meal.

Smoothies More Colorful than Katy Perry's Closet

Be it in bowls or glasses, smoothies are taking over our Instagram feed. Health conscious foodies are coming up with the most creative recipes to blend and decorate for the most Instagramable shots. We're seeing colorful flavors like acai and blueberry topped with dragonfruit, and shaved coconut, and more loaded bowls like banana berry decorated with granola, banana slices, goji berries, and of course chia seeds.

    Midnight Snacking Gone Guiltless

Say goodbye to bags of potato chips and say hello to beetroot crisps, sweet potato fries, and energy balls. Healthy consumers are satiating their sweet tooth and late night cravings with oil-free, gluten-free, and surprisingly, sugar-free treats. Popcorn is out, homemade vegetable chips are in. Candy bars are so last year's Halloween candy as natural sugars, like honey, stevia, and agave demand shelf space.
