Lebanon’s long-anticipated Qlayaat Airport is finally on track to open, with officials confirming it will be operational in time for the summer season.
During a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Public Works, Transport, Energy, and Water, chaired by MP Sajee Attieh and attended by Public Works Minister Fayez Rassamny, the Ministry’s annual action plan was reviewed. The discussion covered key reforms, including plans to establish a regulatory authority for the airport sector and conduct on-site inspections at Lebanon’s ports.
Attieh announced that Qlayaat Airport, officially known as Rene Mouawad Airport, is expected to begin operations within the next three to four months.
Minister Rassamny reaffirmed the government’s determination to reopen the airport before summer, highlighting that multiple projects are already in progress. These initiatives, he said, are designed to deliver both immediate improvements and long-term benefits to the country’s aviation infrastructure.
