Lebanese artist and filmmaker Georges Khabbaz was officially welcomed at Montreal City Hall as part of the 10th edition of Lebanon Cinema Days in Canada, marking a significant moment for Lebanese cinema, culture, and the Francophone community.
Khabbaz became the first Lebanese artist to be officially welcomed at Montreal City Hall and to sign the city’s Golden Book, in recognition of his contribution to the arts, Lebanese culture, Francophonie, and intercultural dialogue.
The Golden Book is reserved for distinguished guests and personalities whose achievements have contributed to the cultural and international profile of Montreal and to the values the city promotes.
The special ceremony coincided with the 10th anniversary of Lebanon Cinema Days in Canada, a decade dedicated to showcasing Lebanese cinema in Canada, fostering artistic exchange, and strengthening connections between communities.
The occasion was also an opportunity to recognize Khabbaz’s longstanding contribution to the arts and his role in promoting Lebanese culture and the French language beyond Lebanon.
A memorable milestone for Georges Khabbaz and a proud moment for the Lebanese cultural community in Canada.
Special thanks were extended to Aref Salem for his warm welcome and to Arber Fetiu, International Relations Advisor, for his presence and support.
