Spinneys, the leading supermarket retailer in the Middle East and North Africa, embraced the Christmas spirit for a second consecutive year by collecting LBP 135,896,451 through a donation campaign for the Lebanese Association of SOS Children's Villages and holding activities for kids at their stores.
"We wanted to make Christmas brighter not just for the families and children who regularly visit our branches, but for the underprivileged children as well since they too are the future of this country," said Ralph Kahi, Group Head of Marketing at Spinneys, adding: "Our campaign was a continuation of the co-branded loyalty card we had previously launched with SOS. With it we aim to further enrich and give back to the Lebanese community."
The month-long Christmas donation campaign, which started on the 6th of December and ended on the 6th of January, allowed customers to donate $1 to SOS Children's Village at the checkout counter in all their branches. Spinneys offered customers five extra points for every $1 donated.
The supermarket chain also held activities for families and their children during the festive month. For only $10 children decorated ginger bread houses with their parents and took them home for Christmas. The money collected from this activity was also donated to SOS Children's Village.
Spinneys had previously launched a co-branded loyalty card with the Lebanese Association of SOS Children's Villages to help underprivileged children attain a better education and a brighter future.
The card has a scheme similar to the regular loyalty program.
Card holders can collect points and redeem them for the offered gifts, However, Spinneys will be donating on yearly basis a percentage of the Spinneys and SOS card holders' purchases to the children of SOS.
