Diners in Riyadh, Cairo and Beirut now have a new restaurant discovery tool at their fingertips, with the expansion of UAE-based start-up RoundMenu.com.
"Dining is a social activity by nature, and when it comes to making the right choices on where to eat or what to eat, we instinctively turn and ask our friends, peers or even the waiter and the table next to us for guidance. We have made this natural process easier now with our proprietary technology, which collects and shows the diner where and what their friends or other people are recommending," said Zaid Jawad, the founder of RoundMenu.
Both the RoundMenu website and app which are available in both Arabic and English, allow diners to maximise their dining out or ordering in experience on three levels - Discover, Dine and Share:
- Discover a restaurant. Use the trademarked 'Social Sound' metre which aggregates data from social platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Foursquare and TripAdvisor to give a signal of popularity for each restaurant. Diners can also see where their friends have dined and recommended.
- Dine by making a restaurant reservation online or calling, and ordering via telephone.
- Share a dining experience by rating, reviewing and uploading photos.
Key differentiators include a top 10 weekly round-up of cuisine & theme categories, social restaurant discovery through friends & seeing where they have dined, searching from over one million 'social' dishes to discover restaurants that serve them; and exclusive food and beverage promotions.
Since its inception in the UAE in 2010, RoundMenu has partnered with the likes of TripAdvisor, Horeca, Coca-Cola, Commercial Bank of Dubai and FooDiva to engage a wider crowd. It now boasts a listing of over 8,000 restaurants, 100,000 app downloads, and over 300,000 unique visitors a month.
