Lebanon's online community gets to voice out who they look up to in the web-sphere, from top diplomats, to restaurants, hotels and bloggers.
Lebanon has finally caught on with the social media revolution and the Online Collaborative's team believes that it is about time to honor the brands and persons who are doing a fabulous job at it whether it is engaging people in meaningful conversations, growing their businesses, answering complaints or using it for social good and empowering people though it. For that purpose the Social Media Awards Beirut first edition was launched. The Social Media Awards will allow the Lebanese online community to nominate, vote for and award the bloggers, journalists, content creators, community managers, public personas, users of social media and celebrities for their efforts in communication and online creation across 33 categories .
The online community is the power behind social media. And the Online Collaborative's aim is to empower the Lebanese online community to evaluate, select and award nominees according to certain categories as it is the entity that interacts with these nominees in the online space. Public voting by the online community is also the only way to receive unbiased feedback. Hence Lebanon's top online influences will be selected through a series of events starting with public online nomination. Following the nominations phase, which ends on March 7th, 7 finalists will be selected for each category by top tier judges and the final vote would be once again in the hands of the netizens. And finally the awards will culminate with an awards ceremony which brings Oscar like glamour to social media and offline tribute to best practices in online interactions.
