Zeina Kassem: The "sovereign" ministry that should be the object of primary interest is the Trauma Ministry.
Roads for Life (RFL) President Zeina Kassem asserted that "the new government should give priority to the rescue culture, especially since the number of traffic accident victims over the first six months of 2018 has not undergone any significant decrease compared to 2017." Speaking during a graduation ceremony in front of participants in RFL rescue sessions, Kassem revealed that "remote areas, especially the Baalbeck-Hermel region, have the highest recorded rate of deadly traffic accidents."
During the ceremony held at the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) to deliver certificates to the participants in the ATLS and ATCN training sessions sponsored by RFL's strategic partners Fransabank and Bank Audi, the RFL president emphasized that, "with all the current buzz about 'sovereign' ministries in the new government, the sovereign ministry that should be the object of primary interest in our country is the Trauma Ministry. All other ministerial portfolios should be mobilized in its service, as human life in our country is dearer than anything else."
Kassem explained that "Roads for Life has developed its capacities and its array of services, which will soon include new rescue sessions aiming to teach ordinary citizens the skills needed to stop bleeding in all kinds of traumatic injuries. These sessions will be launched soon and will help save additional lives all over Lebanon."
The hospitals and entities that took part in the ATLS and ATCN sessions included: Hammoud Hospital, Lebanese American University Medical Center - Rizk Hospital, AUBMC, Sheikh Ragheb Harb Hospital, Military Hospital, Saint Georges Hospital, Rafik Hariri University Hospital, the Lebanese University's Faculty of Medicine, the International Committee of the Red Cross, Kesserwan Medical Center, the specialized gunshot wounds trauma center in Tripoli, Ain w Zein Hospital, Bellevue Medical Center, Mount Lebanon Hospital, Notre Dame University Hospital and Labib Medical Center.
