Mariah Carey will not return to "American Idol" next season.
The pop star's publicity firm, PMK BNC, tweeted Thursday that Carey is departing the Fox series and planning a world tour in support of her new single "Beautiful."
Carey became a new judge on "Idol" last year along with Keith Urban and Nicki Minaj. She and Minaj made headlines when they bickered on and off the airwaves.
