In a major development for travel between the United States and Lebanon, President Donald Trump announced that his administration will move forward with restoring direct flights operated by U.S. airlines.
The decision comes more than 40 years after direct air service was suspended in 1985 following the hijacking of TWA Flight 847 during the Reagan administration.
The announcement followed Trump's meeting at the White House with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, where he also pledged continued support for Lebanon. If implemented, the move would make travel between the two countries much easier for thousands of travelers, families, and members of the Lebanese diaspora.
