    New-Old Chanel No. 5 Commercial

    12 november 2013
How do you make an old fragrance new again? Chanel's idea: Bring on a campaign star from the past.

Shortly after announcing that the very beautiful (and very dead) Marilyn Monroe had been chosen to be the next face of Chanel No. 5, the French fashion house unveiled the new ad campaign - which, as you probably could have guessed, uses footage that isn't all that new.

"You know, they ask you questions. Just an example: 'What do you wear to bed? A pajama top? The bottoms of the pajamas? A nightgown?' So I said, 'Chanel No. 5,' because it's the truth... And yet, I don't want to say 'nude.' But it's the truth!" Monroe said.

Chanel No.5's last spokesperson was Brad Pitt, who was reportedly paid $7 million for the campaign. There's no word if Monroe's trust is being paid, or how much, for the use of her image.
