Others taking part include Jessica Biel, Katie Couric, Jeremy Renner, Seth Rogan, Masi Oka, Simon Baker and Rashida Jones.

Paltrow also is an executive producer for the fundraiser that will be carried commercial-free.

Since 2008, SU2C has donated to seven multi-disciplinary teams of researchers as well as to 26 scientists attempting high-risk, high-reward projects to end cancer's status as the world's leading killer.

The experiences of several patients who are part of Stand Up to Cancer trials will be explored in mini-documentaries that show the progress made in just a few years of effort.
