Azadea Foundation, invited around 60 children from the SOS (Bekaa and South) villages and Al Mabarrat organization to celebrate Eid El Fitr at the René Mouawad, Sanayeh Garden on Wednesday, July 30th in an innovative educational and yet fun way. The event aimed at spreading environmental knowledge to all children as part of the foundation's mission to foster green awareness and preservation in Lebanon and the region.
With the help of the 'G Association', a local environmental non-governmental organization, the children participated in a number of green activities starting with a stroll along the newly renovated Sanayeh garden, a session of creative coloring, face painting, and bicycle racing. The evening at the garden also included an enlightening story-telling time about the significance of the environment, and was then followed by recycling activities and a planting exercise whereas each child learned how to plant a lettuce. The children received instructions on how to take care of their plants which they took back home as part of their giveaway gifts.
The initiative was also part of the Foundation's plans to animate the garden after its opening while catering to the public's needs to enjoy greenery, better environment and healthy living in Lebanon.
Marwan Moukarzel, President of Azadea Foundation explained, "Through this initiative we are working and hoping that the Rene Mouawad Sanayeh Garden would become the next best educational and cultural hub in the city for the public."
Moukarzel also added "seeing the lovely smiles and cheerful faces of these brave youngsters, on the occasion of this holy Eid was what truly makes everything we do worthwhile."
The beautiful and iconic Rene Mouawad Sanayeh garden re-opened in June to the public, fully restored by Azadea Foundation with their initiative to deliver more impactful environmental projects in both Lebanon and the region.
