    20 million iPhone 6 pre-orders in China

    14 october 2014
When reservations for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus reached 2 million in China last week, I suggested that when the devices were made available for pre-order in the country they may get close to matching the figures posted during their earlier initial launch in nine countries. Well, how very wrong I was as the new handsets have been snapped up in unprecedented numbers in China with up to 20 million units being bought.

Digitimes suggests the number is taken from retail sources that also confirm that the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus surged to 1 million pre-order sales with six hours.
To put that in perspective, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have reportedly sold 21 million units in 30 launch markets before China, with 10 million of those of course coming through the initial pre-order and release in the US and eight other regions.
When discussing Apple I try to write impartially because of the accusations that come with praising the company and because, well, I am not actually an iPhone user.

It goes to show that people really did want a large screen iPhone and many were actually waiting for Apple to deliver one before deciding upon iOS. Wall Street will likely be pleased too as this news shows that Apple has finally cracked the Chinese market, which has been viewed as vital for the company's continued smartphone dominance.
