Extravagant lingerie, monstrous wings, the world's most famous supermodels: This is how we know the huge spectacle that is the Victoria's Secret's Fashion Show today.

But once upon a time (the '90s), the shows looked quite a bit different. Darken your lip-liner and fluff up your bangs, we're going on a wild ride.
First held in August 1995 at the New York's Plaza Hotel two months before the company's IPO, the original show featured some looks that are pretty ridiculous by today's standards.
Beige bodysuit, tights, purse and heels, anyone?

There was some dowdy sleepwear, and, of course, high-waisted bikini cut panties. Hello, we've missed you.
(JK, did anyone ever actually feel sexy in underwear up to their belly button?)

There was also plenty of frilly babydoll nighties that might be better suited for a little girl's beauty pageant.

Also, multiple corset-and-purse combos - great for a night on the town!
And whatever is happening on the left here. Sportswear/terminator chic?

And, um, some "fashion."

At a Valentine's Day-themed show a month later, Naomi Campbell and Tyra Banks worked it in unwieldy Little Bo Peep frocks.
You can almost hear the producer yelling, "White! Everything white! I want it to look like a snowstorm on that runway! Like the bathroom at CBGB! Put that coffee the fuck down, Campbell."
Then she probably threw her beeper at him.

We also get treated to some futurey space-lingerie, and the iconic wings make their first appearance (albeit much less glam and more like a sorority girl on Halloween).

The next year, Vicki's decided to turn the volume way, way up: Vampy boob-cups and a "powder-puff" bra. Totally practical, every girl should own two.

BTW, that one on the left is called "Scuba Diving Femme Fatale." Really makes you want to jump into the ocean, no?
A see-through lace dress over tan thigh-highs, and a bonus of more boob cutouts. And Regina George wasn't even, like, born yet.
So innovative.

How far we've come.
