On Monday December 22nd, the newly elected board of the Alumni Association of the College Louise Wegmann gathered about 300 people at their first annual gala dinner at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beirut. The board members include Adele Halabi, Lama Shoucair, Mirna Badreddine- Kobrosli, Myriam Misk-Saikali, Ahmad Shaker and Nadim Ghantous.
Guests at the evening spanned from graduates of the first class of 1978 until the most recent of 2014, as well as members of the CLW Board of Directors, Parents Committee and senior administrators of the school.
After the initial cocktail, AACLW President Mr. Nadim Ghantous made a speech in which he welcomed all attendees and re-stated the Association's goal of gathering and bonding the 3000-strong existing CLW alumni community spread across 4 continents. He stressed on the necessity of helping each others and opening doors to the younger generations. Several new initiatives in this regard will be unveiled and implemented over the coming few months, to further enhance the sense of belonging between CLW alumni. Those include CLW merchandising, casual and sports events, social media presence, success stories, an AACLW Charter, job opportunities for CLW graduates and the publishing of an AACLW directory of members.
The ensuing tombola featured numerous prizes including jewelry, plane tickets, TVs, Ipads, pre-filled credit cards, meals and goodies vouchers, all a great solidarity testimony by CLW Alumni and generous donators.
The evening went on with the famous stand-up comedian Nemr Abou-Nassar who made good fun of the Libano-Francophones , followed by the powerful voices of Cynthia Brown from the French "Star Academy" and Farah Nakhoul from Lebanon that blasted through the night accompanied by a fantastic live band. The party was kept alive long past midnight by the best DJ of all, Priscilla Bakalian, herself a CLW alumna.
Stay tuned for the next AACLW event.... you won't want to miss it !!!
