Cindy's husband Rande Gerbe found the incident "hysterical" after the model shrieked, finding the actor there instead of her other half.

George Clooney accidentally woke up in the same bed as Cindy Crawford after drunkenly falling asleep at her home, her husband has revealed.

And while most women would happily offer Mr Clooney a place to sleep - a shocked Cindy was taken by surprise to find him lying next to her - instead of her husband.

Rande Gerber, who was reportedly one of several best men at Clooney's wedding to British lawyer Amal Alamuddin in Venice last year, claimed the Oscar-winning actor "crashed out" after they spent a night drinking tequila at his Hollywood home.

In an interview with the London Evening Standard's Deluxe magazine, American entrepreneur Mr Gerber, 52, said Crawford thought she had seen her husband "passed out on the bed with motorcycle boots still on".

George had apparently got into the guest bed, and a half-asleep Cindy mistook him for her husband.

"She got into bed and started rubbing my back," Mr Gerber said. "And then I turned round, only it wasn't me. It was George.

"Cindy shrieks: 'Oh my God!' Then George shrieks: 'Oh my God, did I get into bed with you?"'

Mr Gerber said he and Clooney were "hysterical" and laughed about the incident which later featured in an advert for their tequila brand Casamigos.

The former model also told the magazine he believed Mrs Clooney was coping "brilliantly" with her new found fame and that her husband would make a "great dad".

"I don't know if he's going to be or not," he added.
