The Kardashians have taken Manhattan and the Hamptons – and now they're taking Armenia!

Kim Kardashian, her husband, Kanye West, their daughter North and Kardashian's sister Khloé, flew to her father's homeland on Tuesday, and the family began sharing pics as soon as they arrived.

"Armenia we are here!" Kim, 34, captioned a picture on Instagram Wednesday of the large crowd that greeted her and her family. "We are so grateful to be here & start this journey of a lifetime! Thank u everyone who greeted us! I can't wait to explore our country and have some yummy food! #MyDadAndGrandParentsWouldBeSoProud"

The trip has been been in the works for a long time and a source close to the family tells PEOPLE, "It's their first time and everyone is so excited!"

Kim also shared a pic of West, 37, and North, writing, "My husband and daughter came to Armenia as well to see my heritage and learn about my ancestors! My cousins came along too! So excited I can't sleep."
