Lebanon's new traffic law goes into effect on April 22.
During the first phase, from April 22 until April 30, major offenses like speeding, driving under the influence, and reckless endangerment will be punished under the new law, said Lt. Col. Joseph Mousallem, head of the Public Relations Division at the Internal Security Forces. He spoke during a Parliament meeting on preparations for the law's implementation.

Those found guilty  could have their car impounded, receive a fine up to LL3 million, or receive a sentence for up to two years in prison.
