A representative said that the surgery will take place on Monday. Iglesias sliced some of his fingers when he grabbed a drone, during a concert in Tijuana, Mexico, on Saturday. The 40 year old was 50 minutes into his performance when he reached for a camera attached to a drone, catching his some of his fingers in the rotating blades. The drone is used to capture crowd shots during Iglesias' concerts. Often, the singer grabs the drone to provide the crowd with a point-of-view shot, but on Saturday this plan turned out to be a shock.
Iglesias was semi-treated on the side of the stage in order to stop the bleeding and continue the performance. He performed for an additional 30-minute although he was advised to end the show immediately after the incident occurred at Plaza de Toros de Playas.
Many of the 12,000 fans at the concert posted photos and videos of Iglesias with a bandaged hand and a bloody t-shirt on their social media accounts showing their support. Fans claimed that Iglesias attempted to draw a heart with his blood on his white t-shirt.
Iglesias received many get well soon messages and concerns from his fans via social media. "Thank you to all for your concern and good wishes," Iglesias' publicist said in a statement Monday.
After the concert, Iglesias was immediately taken to the airport where an ambulance was waiting for him. He was then put on a plane to L.A. in order to meet with a specialist.
The show was part of his sex and love world tour. The representative said that the tour will resume on July 3rd in Mexico City.
