Beautiful surprise for Princess Diaries Movie Sequel

    16 june 2015
Disney has officially given the greenlight to "Princess Diaries 3"!

For some time, rumors have been flying about whether the studio would release a third installment. In fact, Anne Hathaway publicly denied her involvement with a new sequel several times.

However, it looks like the beloved series will get another chapter, according to an exclusive report from Tracking Board.

There is no word on whether Hathaway, who has achieved success with films such as "The Dark Knight Rises," will be back for number three. The superstar actress may or may not return, according to what sources told Tracking Board.

The sequel's plot is also a mystery, with details being "kept tight under lock and key."

It looks as if the intention is to reboot the franchise regardless of if Hathaway reprises her leading role as Mia Thermopolis.

The original 2001 film, "The Princess Diaries," first began the story of Mia, a shy teenager who discovers that she is the heir to the throne of fictional Genovia. Audiences loved the teenage romantic comedy so much that is garnered more than $165 million at the box office.

Oscar winner Julie Andrews also co-starred in the first two films, which were directed by Garry Marshall. The late Whitney Houston produced the first installment.

The 2004 sequel, "The Princess Diaries: Royal Engagement," introduced actor Chris Pine. Shonda Rhimes, known for "Grey's Anatomy" and "Scandal," scripted the second installment.

Debra Chase of Martin Chase Productions is reportedly returning to produce the newest installment after serving as a producer on the previous two films.

Kristin Burr and Foster Driver will oversee the project for Disney, according to Tracking Board.
