Over a month since it came out in America The Avengers shows no apparent signs of slowing its smashing of box office records.

Having taken $600m in the USA it is now the highest grossing superhero movie ever, and with $1.4bn taken worldwide it is behind only Avatar and Titanic in the all time list of highest grossing movies.

The Avengers is only the second film of the 21st century to join this esteemed assembly of cinema giants.
