Congratulations to Amal and George Clooney, who have just adopted a mixed-breed basset hound called Millie. The couple fell in love with the four-year-old rescue dog on Petfinder, who was found looking for food scraps outside a restaurant in San Gabriel earlier this month. Then they went to meet her at the San Gabriel Valley Humane Shelter, where they sealed the deal.
The shelter devoted a blogpost to the adoption: ‘It was a happy day at the shelter for Millie! Despite those adorable googly eyes, pretty long ears, and shorty legs, Millie was found without a home. Today her luck changed for the better. Congratulations to the Clooney family and thank you for adopting!’
The new addition joins the pair’s other two rescue dogs: Louie and Einstein (an appropriate name for super-sharp Amal’s pet, right?). Speaking of Einstein, George told Esquire last year: ‘I start to panic that Einstein is not going to like me. So I run into the kitchen, where I have these turkey meatballs, and I rub them all over my shoes.’ Aww! Looks like Einstein lives up to his namesake by wrapping George around his little finger – well, paw.
Although Amal and George both travel frequently for work, the couple recently purchased a palace suitable for even the choosiest of pooches: a £10million Grade II listed manor house in Berkshire, on the River Thames. The home is set in 4 acres of land – more than enough space for the doggy trio to stretch their legs!
We think Amal and George are quickly becoming one of the nicest celebrity couples ever, with Amal’s endeavours in human rights law, George’s charity work and the fact they donated the money from their wedding photographs to charity. Aww! Plus, George once admitted that he used to own a pet pig…so we’re on tenderhooks to see which pet they rescue next![.nowmagazine]
