Adele accused of stealing Kurdish singers 1985 song for new album

    09 december 2015
Adele has been accused of plagiarising a deceased Kurdish singer on one of the songs from her latest album.

'25' was released last month (November 20) and has broken numerous sales records. However, a track from the album entitled 'Million Years Ago' is now being compared with 1985 song 'Acilara Tutunmak' by Ahmet Kaya. Scroll below to hear both tracks.

Kaya was a well-known singer from Turkey who was popular in the mid-1980s. He died in Paris in 2000, where he had been living in exile for a year.

Many of his fans have taken to social media to point out the similarities between the songs. One wrote: "Adele's Million Years Ago is identical to extradited Kurdish legend Ahmet Kaya's Acilara Tutunmak - please credit him!".
