Filippina Lydia "Tina" Arena is an Australian singer-songwriter musical theatre actress, and record producer. During her career she has lived in Australia, United States, France, and the United Kingdom. Arena is one of Australia's highest selling female artists who, as of July 2014, has sold over 10 million records worldwide.
On january 23 2016, Arena will be performing at Casino Du Liban for one night only in Lebanon. Beiruting.com had the opportunity to interview the International star:
1- "Eleven" was described as an album for the heartbroken and the spumed people who want to send a message to their exes after a heartbreaking separation. Were the songs inspired by personal experiences?
I haven't heard Eleven described that way yet. It's interesting how everyone interprets it differently. Personally I don't think it's an album for the heartbroken, but if that's what the listen hears, then fantastic. Some songs are inspired by personal experiences, some a just stories that are entirely fictional.
2- To whom did you dedicate the album?
My audiences, who have been so loyal and are always there supporting me. I'm very thankful. I've been doing this since I was 8 years old!
3- Fans are super excited about your presence among us but why are you performing for one night only and not more?
Because 2016 is meant to be a year where I'm not doing a big tour. I'm just doing One Night shows in each city, if people want more shows in Lebanon, there will be more shows - just not in January!
4- You were awarded in 2015 the Murex D'Or for the musical contribution to the Arab World. What do you think the standards an artist should meet in order to be handed this award?
That's a tough question and maybe not one I'm in a position to answer, but in general, I think longevity, taking risks, good quality music, humility and hard work are things to be celebrated.
5- Will you perform exclusively from "Eleven" album or will you sing as well some of your huge old hits?
Both! There will be a lot of songs that the audience will know and some that I've never played live before, some French songs probably. I'm working on the set-list now but there will definitely be some past hits!
6- Will fans be able to meet you in person after the concert?
It's difficult to meet everyone, but I try to meet people whenever possible.
7- Can you share with Beiruting.com fans some of your upcoming projects for 2016?Live shows in Dubai, Beirut and London, some shows in Australia: outdoor at the wineries and one on Sydney Harbour... some acting and some music that I can't speak too much about yet...
8- What's your message to Beiruting fans and Lebanon in General?
Thanks for all your support over the years and thanks for your patience and waiting so long for me to do a concert there. My band and I will do all we can to make it a very special night. Can't wait to see you all x
