Under the auspices of the Minister of Economy and Trade Dr. Alain Hakim represented by Mr. Elias Hankash, PepsiCo, the world's largest food and beverage companies, launched in cooperation with the Ajialouna NGO, a charity organization dedicated to supporting education, health, and social work, "Tomooh Saad Abdul Latif" for university scholarships in its eleventh year. This program aimed at empowering the Arab youth to pursue their education, was launched during a dinner honoring the press, associations and teaching bodies of schools and universities in the presence of a number of PepsiCo and Ajialouna NGO officials.
The ceremony included a word by PepsiCo's MENA General Manager saying: "Today we celebrate the launch of the eleventh year of Tomooh Saad Abdul Latif, which is one of the most important social programs by PepsiCo, giving till today beyond 2200 grants contributed to the empowerment of our students, at a time in which we are now in dire need of education to illuminate the paths of future generations." He added: "PepsiCo's commitment will continue to support education and young people aspiring to success through Tomooh program and our partnership with Ajialouna."
The representative of the Minister of Economy and Trade Dr. Alain Hakim, Mr. Elias Hankash gave a speech in which he said: "We appreciate PepsiCo's efforts in supporting the Lebanese society, especially its youth in various fields, and its serious commitment to continue this valuable initiative to support the Lebanese students, wherever they are, and we urge other companies to follow in PepsiCo's footsteps in the creation of projects that are an essential part of the company's responsibility and an effective contribution to the development of society."
Ajialouna NGO, PepsiCo's partner in the execution of this project, also had a word during the event, given by its President Lina El Dada, who confirmed the permanence of cooperation with PepsiCo since the project was launched in 2006, saying: "Tomooh Abdul Latif program has long sided with the students since eleven years to empower them to pursue their education and achieve their dreams. It's one of the most successful and transparent programs due to PepsiCo's commitment. And let's not forget PepsiCo's efforts in supporting students with special needs through the Tomooh Program which always allocates part of its grants for their support."
PepsiCo commits to Performance with Purpose, and Tomooh Saad Abdul Latif program is one of its many social responsibility projects that support the youth and empower them through education in Lebanon and the region. The program has succeeded in supporting students throughout the Arab World, where the number of beneficiaries has reached over 73,000 students in Lebanon, Egypt, and Jordan with the conclusion of its tenth year.
