A Finnish boy is the youngest person to get payout for finding bug that allowed comments to be deleted - and says he'll use the money to buy a football and bike.
This is especially remarkable since Jani is three years shy of being able to make his own Instagram account. Also, he's a 10-year-old hacker who found a bug that even Facebook's mighty engineering team missed.
Jani was rewarded $10,000 by Facebook as part of its bug bounty program, which offers cash rewards to people who find bugs and flaws in Facebook's digital infrastructure. That includes the Facebook-owned Instagram.
The boy told Iltalehti that he could delete what people wrote on the picture-sharing social media, demonstrating it to Instagram by deleting a comment they made on a test account. Jani said he could even delete Justin Bieber's comments with the flaw he found.
The 10-year-old has been interested in coding and video games for two years, His classmates were "surprised and astonished" by the reward, according to Iltalehi, and his father, Marko, told the paper that it had come as "a total surprise that [my son] has gone this far with it".
