Macauley Culkin never completely left the public eye, nor did he act quite as recklessly as some of his peers. Yet the actor, whose career was launched at the age of 10 in Home Alone and its sequel Home Alone: Lost In New York, hasn’t exactly avoided the weird.
Most bizarre of all is likely the band he started in 2013, which ran for three years before breaking up. The band, called The Pizza Underground, would play Velvet Underground songs but replace the standard lyrics with pizza-themed ones. They would also give out free pizza during performances, something that wasn’t enough to gain them a good reception everywhere. A gig in Nottingham, England, ended in Culkin storming off stage as his kazoo solo was interrupted by fans booing and throwing pints of beer at the band.
Back in December 2013, Culkin uploaded the first video on the Pizza Underground’s YouTube channel. Partly hinting at what’s to come, and more than anything bewildering viewers across the world, he proceeded to just eat a slice of pizza, in silence, for over four minutes. For a lot of us, it was our first time seeing the actor whose movies we had watched so many times as children, and it wasn’t the best of looks.
Culkin has occasionally re-appeared on the world stage, seen dating Mila Kunis from 2002 to 2011, but he always looked a long stretch from the fresh-faced child of his most successful years in Hollywood. More recently he’s been dating Jordan Lane Price, and living in Paris, but when he was spotted in Hollywood this week, he looked like a changed man.
He was spotted with actress and model Brenda Song, who like Culkin began her career at an early age. The pair are set to star in the movie Changeland, an upcoming comedy-drama written and directed by Seth Green, who has worked with Culkin before on the animated show Robot Chicken.
His return to Hollywood seems to have reignited the fashion sense in the actor, who now looks a lot younger than his real age of 36. As you would expect, the internet went wild for this photo, as they found that not only is Culkin rocking a new look, but he looks great with it.
