Children bullying is a common fact at schools, yet the probability is higher for lesbians, gays, bisexual, or transgender. Some studies have shown that a high percentage (89%) of LGBT youth had experience some sort of bullying.
Spirit Day is an annual effort to raise awareness of bullied LGBT youth, by turning social media purple. People who support this cause upload pictures wearing purple and use the hashtag #GoPurple
This annual effort has started in 2010, after discovering that bullied people suicidal rate is increasing.
