George Clooney is a man who wears many hats, but he recently revealed that he might be ready to hang up his acting cap. The actor, who's been in the limelight for decades, has hinted that he plans to scale back on movie roles to concentrate on other endeavours, like directing.
In an interview with The Sunday Times, George admitted that he has lost his leading man status. "I acted for a long time and, you know, I'm 56," he confessed, adding, "I'm not the guy that gets the girl anymore. At least, I shouldn't be the guy that gets the girl."
The Suburbicon director went on to explain why he doesn't feel the same need to act as he did in his younger days. "Acting used to be how I paid the rent, but I sold a tequila company for a billion dollars. I don't need money," he shared.
He continued: "I have money. So I can fight to make movies I want to make. If you look at what I've been in over the past 15 years, for the most part they weren't going to get made if I didn't do them. Nobody was going to make Good Night, and Good Luck, Michael Clayton or Up in the Air, and I fought to get those out there."
In addition to money and roles, there are two important, and very adorable, reasons why the actor is scaling back his Hollywood career. The Oscar winner is a devoted dad to twins Alexander and Ella, whom he shares with wife Amal Clooney. The duo became first-time parents back in June, and the proud father hasn't stopped gushing about his kids and fatherhood since their arrival.
