Considering George Clooney once gave briefcases filled with a million dollars to his best friends, it's safe to assume the guy knows how to give a killer gift. So what did he give to Amal in honor of the big 4-0?
According to PEOPLE, the couple celebrated Amal's 40th birthday with a romantic trip to California's Big Sur. The coastal town is just a quick flight to L.A., and is home to gorgeous vistas and a number of cliffside resorts, including the famously romantic Post Ranch Inn (which, it's worth mentioning, is an idyllic destination for a honeymoon). This was Amal's first birthday since the couple welcomed their now 8-month old twins, Alexander and Ella, on June 6, and the pair reportedly took 24-hours of "adults only" time before returning to L.A. the next day.
For George's most recent milestone birthday (his 55th, in 2016), Amal got him a less romantic, but highly practical, present: a lawn mower. "We have a beautiful front lawn at our house in England and I used to mow lawns when I was a kid, so she bought me this giant riding lawn mower that is sitting at the house right now, and I'm very excited about putting that to work when I'm home," he said of the thoughtful gift.
