Queen Rania's Clothes Cost More Than Duchess of Cambridge's!

    09 february 2018

The royal with the highest value wardrobe, is Queen Rania of Jordan who wore clothes costing £237,000 in 2017.
When you need to look impeccable for royal engagements, naturally your wardrobe is going to cost a lot more than the average person's.

Now, research by the team behind the blog UFO No More has identified just how much some of the most high profile women in the world spend on clothing - with surprising results.

Despite her busy schedule of engagements, Crown Princess Victoria, the future Queen of Sweden, spends a relatively thrifty £50,000 a year thanks to her love of affordable high street labels such as H&M.

The royal with the highest value wardrobe, according to the blog, is Queen Rania of Jordan who wore clothes costing £237,000 in 2017.

However, it's unclear how much the monarch actually spent as she is known to receive discounts and have items gifted to her from designers.

The Duchess of Cambridge who reportedly does not accept gifts or discounts, apparently spent in excess of £115,000.

The team of UFO No More (which stands for Unidentified Fashion Object) kept a tally of the prices of all new clothes and accessories worn by royal women throughout the year, using sites such as Lyst and Net-A-Porter, and did not include any pieces that had previously been worn publicly.

For custom-made items, they estimated the prices based on the runway version or similar designs from the brand. But where no such pieces existed, they categorised the items as 'unknown' and discounted them from the total.

This means that in reality the spend by each woman is likely even higher than the calculations, even if they get discounts from designers on some of the clothes they wear.

She's known for recycling her outfits and supporting the British high street, but the Duchess of Cambridge has been adding more high end designer labels to her wardrobe of late.

In 2017 she broke her own fashion rules by adding labels such as Chanel, D&G and Armani to her wardrobe, which is privately paid for by Prince Charles.

Her most expensive piece outfit of the year was a Chanel ensemble she wore on the royal tour of Paris, costing more than £10,000.
